Destination Spotlight – The Bahamas

When you think of the Bahamas, inevitably the images of crystal clear turquoise waters, balmy beaches and extravagant resorts come to mind…and yes, while that is all true, there is so much more to The Bahamas as we found out on a recent hosted buyer trip, IncentiveX with Express Conferences.

Before we begin our Bahamian blog, I want to extend a huge congratulations to Roy, Connor, Shelley and Jen for putting on a world class event in a world class destination. The ratio of suppliers to planners (2:1) provided an opportunity for networking, relationship building, and very intentional conversations about their products and services.

Let’s “dive” (get it?) into the highlights of the past week and take a tour around the island from Baha Mar to Paradise Island and ending in Nassau!

We were fortunate to call the simply stunning Grand Hyatt Baha Mar home for a few unforgettable days. This mega-resort immediately sweeps you into vacation mode with breathtaking ocean views, dancing musical fountains, and guest rooms washed in the vibrant blues and corals you dream about when escaping to the tropics. With 1,800 guest rooms, a state-of-the-art, 85,000 sq. ft. convention center, and over 300,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor space, Baha Mar brilliantly balances both leisure, luxury and conference convenience. From world-class restaurants, chic boutiques, outdoor pools, a thrilling water park, and endless oceanside lounging, to the modular, flexible meeting spaces planners crave, I couldn’t help but think about that client willing to take the leap and host a large-scale event beyond U.S. borders. Tucked within the complex, Rosewood Baha Mar whispers elegance at every turn. Its suites are so sumptuous they transported me to another world. And just steps away sits SLS Baha Mar, the swanky, high-energy playground where influencers flock for their next iconic Instapost. Fun fact: SLS stands for Style, Luxury, Service and it delivers on all three, especially at Skybar, its rooftop hotspot boasting panoramic Caribbean views paired beautifully with fresh, handcrafted cocktails.

The next day, we made our way over to Paradise Island touring both Warwick Paradise Island and the legendary Atlantis Paradise Island. Stepping onto the grounds of Atlantis transported me to another lifetime, straight back to my days working at The Palace of the Lost City in South Africa. The grand scale, the lush design details, the theatrical architecture… all unmistakably reminiscent of the late visionary Sol Kerzner. His legacy of storytelling through hospitality is alive and thriving here. But I digress! Warwick Paradise Island is one of the very few all-inclusive, adults-only resorts on the island. Smaller in footprint but big on warmth, service, and approachability, it felt like an idyllic, self-contained retreat, one of those places where you can check in, exhale, and not think about logistics again until departure.

And then, on the opposite end of the island, rising like a pink-coral city in the sun, stands the iconic Atlantis Paradise Island. This isn’t just a resort, it’s an entire destination within a destination. With five distinct hotels, a sprawling 141-acre water park, world-class dining, endless pools, private beaches, a luxury marina village, and the fascinating marine habitat woven throughout the property, Atlantis delivers something few places can: discovery around every corner. Planners will love the extensive meeting and event spaces, from grand ballrooms and boardrooms to open-air terraces perfect for receptions under the Bahamian stars. Families, incentive groups, conference attendees, and even VIP leisure travelers all find their niche here, making it one of the most versatile resort complexes in the Caribbean.

Our activity day, graciously hosted by the Nassau Paradise Island Tourism Board was one for the books! We set sail on a sleek catamaran that carried us out to one of the island’s many dazzling coral reefs for a half-day of snorkeling, sunshine, laughter, and plenty of singing along the way! With Sunsplash Events, the local DMC orchestrating every detail, the day flowed effortlessly, making it a “Bahama Breeze” getting to and from the various activities! That evening we stepped back in time for dinner at the landmark 100+ year old British Colonial, one of three hotels which make up The Pointe Complex in central Nassau: a development that seamlessly blends tradition with modern island flair. From the laid back island vibes of Margaritaville Nassau, to the stylish One Particular Habor Residences, each hotel brings it’s own character and ambiance. Just steps away, you’ll find Nassau’s most authentic experiences, the Straw Market, “Fish Fry” and Junkanoo Beach. Whether you’re here for business, “bleisure” or leisure, this corner of Nassau gives you the perfect opportunity to live like a local while soaking up the charm of Bahamian life.

As our unforgettable days in the Bahamas came to a close, I couldn’t help but reflect on how this destination truly has it all. Whether hosting a corporate incentive, leadership retreat, or international conference, Nassau and Paradise Island deliver a seamless blend of business and leisure. What’s more, traveling to and from the Bahamas couldn’t be easier. U.S. passport holders clear U.S. Customs and Border Protection on the island, meaning you arrive stateside as a domestic traveler: one less line to stand in, and one more reason to love this destination.

The Bahamas isn’t just a place you visit, it’s an experience that stays with you long after the turquoise waters fades from view. And for planners like me, it’s a reminder that paradise and productivity can absolutely coexist.
