Chapter 3: From the Big Five to the Big Easy!

In 2001, I made the life-changing decision to immigrate from South Africa to the United States with my family, landing in the vibrant city of New Orleans. It was here that I continued my journey in the hospitality industry, opening hotels, deepening my experience in Convention Services and developing a strong foundation in hotel operations.
Understanding the operational side of venues quickly became one of my greatest strengths. Why? Because the smooth execution of any event starts long before the first guest walks through the door.
Working with MGM Resorts International gave me the opportunity to sharpen my ability to anticipate client needs, troubleshoot on the fly, and spot challenges before they turned into costly headaches. These were the years I truly learned the GRIT, GRIND and STAMINA required to thrive in this business; skills that are woven into every event I now touch. Everything was on track… until Mother Nature stepped in and changed the course of my career forever.
